PIE SCHOOL, INC.
Terms of Service
Effective October 29, 2026
These terms describe the relationship between Pie School, Inc., a Delaware corporation, and the parent or legal guardian purchasing sessions for a student. They cover our website, parent app, and math homework club. Our Privacy Policy explains personal information and recording choices.
1. Accounts and participation
You must be an adult parent or legal guardian authorized to enroll each student you add. Provide accurate contact and student information, keep sign-in codes private, and tell us promptly if your account or phone number is compromised or changes. Students participate under a parent-managed account; they do not create independent accounts.
Pie School is an online social math homework club for grades 4–12 in the United States and Canada. Students work on their own assignments or fun math problems and challenges with a guide. It is not a school or a promise of particular grades, completed assignments, or academic results. Families need a compatible device, working microphone, and reliable internet connection.
2. Pods, schedules, and invitations
Sessions last 50 minutes, normally once a week, with two to four qualifying students in nearby grades. Availability, grade compatibility, and guide capacity affect pod formation. A waitlist position is not a confirmed booking or a guarantee of a start date. Invitations ordinarily expire 48 hours after sending; accept within the stated deadline to reserve a place.
Confirmation normally occurs at the 24-hour cutoff when the group meets its activation requirements and payment checks complete. Use the status in the app to determine whether a session is confirmed. Recurring schedules follow America/Chicago time and adjust with daylight saving time there; the app displays session times in your device’s time zone. Review the actual local time shown for each session.
3. Trial and subscription pricing
| Purchase | United States (USD) | Canada (CAD) |
|---|---|---|
| One trial session | $6.00 | $8.50 |
| Four-session cycle | $24.00 | $34.00 |
A trial does not automatically enroll your child in a subscription. Continuing requires explicit acceptance. Once accepted, the subscription renews automatically for that student’s next four-session cycle unless you stop renewal. Each student has a separate cycle. Four weekly sessions normally span four weeks; this is not calendar-month billing.
If the first trial is missed, an invitation to a second paid trial may be offered at the same trial price. The limit is two trials total, not two retries. An unused invitation can expire and release the recurring seat.
4. Payment authorization
Stripe collects and processes payment methods. Saving a method requires separate authorization for the disclosed future charges and does not itself accept a trial or subscription invitation. Normal session or cycle charges occur at the 24-hour cutoff; admission to an already active session after that cutoff is charged immediately. The app must disclose the amount and applicable restrictions before acceptance.
New students need successful payment to confirm attendance. Returning students with a prior successful payment may be allowed to attend while a failed payment is retried. Payment failures do not create duplicate entitlements or waive payment obligations. Renewal reminders and payment notices are available through the service and enabled notification channels.
5. Changing or cancelling
A session locks 24 hours before its start. Before the first session of an upcoming cycle locks, cancelling releases the recurring place, stops renewal, and cancels that upcoming cycle. After its first session locks, cancelling stops future renewal while preserving remaining paid sessions; it does not refund the cycle for a change of mind.
A schedule change moves later sessions and renewals while keeping any session within 24 hours fixed. Unused paid sessions transfer with the student. If you voluntarily move to a waitlisted time, you relinquish the original future place, charges pause while waiting, and unused paid sessions are saved without expiry for later use rather than automatically refunded. Saved sessions are used before new billing resumes.
A booking made within 24 hours of its start is locked immediately and is non-changeable and non-refundable for a change of mind. Personal illness, a family’s internet problems, and no-shows generally do not entitle a refund; a missed confirmed session counts as used. These rules do not override mandatory consumer rights or refunds owed for service-side failure.
6. When Pie School cannot deliver
We do not charge for sessions known not to run. If guide absence, underfilling, or another service-side problem prevents delivery, we refund charges for the unfulfilled sessions. If underfilling interrupts a paid cycle, unused sessions are refunded and billing pauses; a returning group requires reconfirmation and a fresh cycle. This differs from a voluntary move to a waitlist, which preserves unused paid sessions.
We may adjust pod membership or schedules when necessary and will communicate material changes. We do not promise that every pod or guide will remain available indefinitely.
7. A welcoming, private space
Students and families must treat others respectfully. Harassment, discriminatory behavior, inappropriate content, sharing meeting links with unauthorized people, or attempts to access another family’s account are not permitted. Share only homework and materials you are entitled to use. Do not record, photograph, or redistribute other participants’ session content without the necessary permissions.
We may pause or end participation to protect students or address misuse. We will communicate the reason where appropriate and address unused paid sessions consistently with applicable law. The club is not an emergency or child-supervision service; parents remain responsible for their child’s environment and readiness to participate.
8. Recording and marketing choices
Sessions are not recorded by default. Recording requires explicit written permission from every participating student’s parent or guardian and any additional legally required consent verification. Assessment and marketing permissions are separate, optional, and not a condition of attendance.
Marketing requires approval of the specific edited clip and intended channels. Approved use lasts two years from approval unless permission is withdrawn sooner; renewal requires fresh approval. Full session recordings are deleted after their approved purpose is completed and within 90 days of recording.
Withdraw permission at rahil@pie.school. We stop new uses and paid promotion promptly and remove affected footage from channels and active files we control within 30 days, subject to a specific legal retention obligation. We cannot guarantee deletion of copies independently saved or shared by others. The Privacy Policy contains the full recording and withdrawal rules. These terms do not themselves grant permission to use a student’s image, voice, or work for marketing.
9. Text messages
Pie School sends requested sign-in codes. If you separately opt in to recurring service notifications, messages may include invitations, confirmations, reminders, meeting links, changes, cancellations, and payment alerts. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Notification consent is optional and is not a condition of purchase. This program does not send promotional messages.
Reply STOP to stop notification texts. For assistance, email rahil@pie.school or contact +1-312-826-6647. Stopping texts does not cancel a booking or stop subscription renewal. Carrier delivery can be delayed or fail, so check the app for current status; carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. A sign-in-code request does not enroll you in recurring notifications.
10. Content, service limits, and your rights
Families retain ownership of materials they provide. Sharing homework for a session permits us to display and discuss it as needed to run that session; it does not grant a general marketing license. Pie School retains rights in its own branding, website, and materials.
Online services can experience interruptions, and academic outcomes vary. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or limits remedies that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit. We do not impose mandatory arbitration, a class-action waiver, or a contractual damages cap.
11. Questions and changes
Contact us about billing, cancellations, privacy, or a service concern so we can work toward a resolution. We will give notice of material terms or price changes before they affect future purchases or renewals and obtain any required agreement. Changes will not retroactively expand a recording permission or remove mandatory consumer rights.
